Start-up Journey Game

Students experience an adrenaline rush of entrepreneurship through this simulator, which simulates the difficulties every entrepreneur faces when starting out: the creation of an idea to presenting your project to potential investors.
They would have to take the key variables of all ventures into account, and would further experience the differences between making decisions alone or as a team.

COURSES IN WHICH THE START-UP JOURNEY GAME IS USED:

Innovation, Entrepreneurship, New Venture Creation

Through the simulation, students will understand the importance of the following aspects when starting a business: forming and strengthening a team, building a network of contacts, the benefits of having a mentor, identifying the needs of each target segment and positioning the product with respect to the competition.

"It is much easier for the students to understand the concepts through the game than a standard lecture."

"I found that the use of simulation games in the classroom increases students' motivation for learning. Additionally, this active learning prepares students to deal with the real-business environment and decision making in uncertainties."

"Some of the students that have been very quiet throughout the semester “came alive” and communicated more with each other than they had during formal classes until then."

"My colleagues and I definitely believe in them. They are much more effective in capturing the attention of all participants than a boring presentation or an Excel spreadsheet."

"I would say that students have a different energy whenever its game day. Even the students who are the least motivated in class end up being the most involved during a game".

"With the advent of online education, simulators or games have become essential to get the student's attention. To be effective, online teaching cannot simply be doing the same thing as face-to-face classes. It doesn't work. It requires a change in the way of teaching and simulators help a lot to make things different."
